Personal Projects
1978 YAMAHA XS 500
This bike has been my main passion project. I have always dreamed of converting a classic motorcycle into a modernized cafe racer. When I bought this bike, it was nearly perfect visually but the motor had been left sitting for a long time. It has taken lots of hours and lots of Youtube videos to get the bike in running condition… But the work is never done.
Work Done So Far:
Installed New Headligh, Handle Bars, and Grips
Fixed Speedometer and Odometer
Installed New Rear View Mirrors and Turning Signals
Fixed Clutch and Installed New Clutch Lever
Removed Front Fender, Center Stand, and Other Unnecessary Parts
Fixed Lots of Oil Leaks
Work To Be Done:
Chop Up Frame And Re-weld To Install Cafe Racer Seat
Install New Brake Light
Weld Custom Exhaust
Install New Digital Speedometer
Install New Fuel Petcock
Design and CNC Custom Front Fork Triple Tree Clamp
Fine Tune the Idle
Install Shorter Front Brake Line and New Brake Lever
Ring Making
Making rings is a fun, creative outlet for me. I use stainless steel rod stock to create all my rings from scratch. I start by boring it out on the lathe and then turning it down to the desired thickness. Then, I use the cut off tool to cut the ring to length. Once the generic blueprint is made, You can create whatever design you want with a Dremel or any other shop tool you can find. The thing I love about ring making is the challenge it presents to my imagination and fine motor skills. The possibilities are endless with ring making!
